Caron Treatment Centers Names Bradley F. Sorte as New Chief Executive Officer

Sorte Currently Serves as Caron’s Chief Strategy and Growth Officer

WERNERSVILLE, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Caron Treatment Centers, an internationally recognized not-for-profit dedicated to addiction and behavioral healthcare treatment, research, prevention and addiction medicine education, today announced that its Board of Trustees unanimously selected Bradley F. Sorte to be Caron’s new President and Chief Executive Officer. A clinician by training, Sorte currently serves as Caron’s EVP/Chief Strategy and Growth Officer, a position he has held for almost two years. He will assume his new position at Caron on July 1, 2021.

Sorte will succeed Doug Tieman who will retire as President and CEO on June 30, 2021, after leading Caron for more than 25 years. To ensure a seamless transition and Caron’s continued momentum, Tieman will remain with the organization for an additional year as Special Advisor to the President, with a focus on fundraising and external relations.

“Brad Sorte is a talented executive, an emerging leader in the treatment field, and a person passionately devoted to Caron and our mission of Recovery for Life,” said Dr. Thomas Flynn, Chair of Caron’s Board of Trustees. “After a national search attracting numerous CEOs and other impressive candidates, the Board decided that the best person to lead Caron was already on our senior leadership team. Brad and all of us at Caron will benefit greatly from the comprehensive transition plan approved by the Board, including Doug Tieman’s assistance during 2020-2021 as Brad builds on Caron’s successful fundraising efforts and enhances our thought leadership nationally.”

In his current role as Chief Strategy and Growth Officer, Sorte is responsible for aligning Caron’s strategy and performance. Sorte also oversees Caron’s seven regional recovery centers, all non-residential services and the operations of the business development, marketing, and admissions departments. Responsible for special projects, Sorte also has oversight for Caron Florida’s Keele Center and site operations.

“I am humbled and honored to be appointed as Caron’s next CEO,” said Sorte. “Caron is a very special place to me and my family. I look forward to honoring Dick and Catherine Caron’s vision as we continue to build on Caron’s legacy as a national leader in substance use disorder prevention and treatment, expand access to Caron’s life-saving treatment and improve the outcomes for all families struggling with addiction through our investment and support of addiction research.”

“I’m excited about the Board’s selection of Brad to be my successor,” commented Doug Tieman. “With the cumulative effects of anxiety and isolation driving an increase use in substances and problematic use escalating, families need Caron more than ever. Brad was the architect behind our current strategic plan, which, even with COVID-19’s impact, is working extremely well. He understands Caron and the needs of families. Brad has a steady hand and vision that will help Caron meet that need and lay the groundwork for Caron‘s future success.”

Sorte began his career at Caron almost ten years ago as a family therapist at Caron Renaissance. Most recently he was Executive Vice President and Managing Director of the Florida Continuum, overseeing operations for Caron Renaissance and Ocean Drive before assuming responsibility for all non-residential services and becoming Chief Growth Officer. Sorte holds a Master of Social Work degree and a Master of Business Administration degree, both from Florida Atlantic University. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Rice University and a Bachelor of Science degree in legal studies from Kaplan University. Sorte is a member of both the Philadelphia and Palm Beach chapters of the Young Presidents Organization and serves on the board for the Palm Beach chapter.
