IDC Acquires ETBS, Continues Expansion of IT Sourcing and Benchmarking Data That Unlocks Value for Customers

NEEDHAM, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#ETBS–International Data Corporation (IDC) has acquired ETBS, an IT benchmarking and assessment firm that offers extensive price, service, and cost data in over 45 countries.

IDC’s acquisition of ETBS adds a highly regarded benchmarking methodology into its already established and growing IT metrics product portfolio. The addition of ETBS’s capabilities will provide IDC clients with high value data via an advanced market pricing model (MPM) and integration with IDC’s existing sourcing and pricing tools.

“IDC clients will now have access to even more comprehensive IT benchmarking and performance data, model-based IT benchmarking tools, and our growing team of experienced analysts and subject matter experts positioned around the globe,” said Crawford Del Prete, IDC President. “The combination of IDC Sourcing Advisory Services, IDC Metri (acquired in 2021), and ETBS makes IDC the ideal destination for technology buyers seeking trusted data to drive savings in their IT investments.”

“ETBS has long focused on bringing pricing transparency to our customers through highly configurable models and historical data,” said Eugene Talasch, Founder of ETBS. “Whether it be in cloud, security, service management, or beyond, our market price model has helped many customers recognize measurable cost savings. Throughout our prior partnership with IDC, it was clear that our results-driven synergies could produce differentiated data and competitive advantage.”

The rise of digital transformation, and now the evolution of the digital business, means that IT sourcing, procurement, and vendor management professionals need data and guidance to benchmark best-in-class pricing more than ever.

“As economic conditions deteriorate, technology leaders are seeking more IT price, cost, and performance data to recalibrate their IT spend,” said Meredith Whalen, IDC’s Chief Research Officer. “ETBS’s market-proven dataset will deepen IDC’s benchmark advisory business. IDC is committed to providing our clients with fact-based and actionable advice needed to navigate the economic headwinds.”

In addition, the acquisition of ETBS enhances IDC’s offerings for IT vendors and service providers, augmenting coverage for IT services including managed cloud, security, cyber recovery, and much more. IDC clients will be able to tap into a broader range of metrics, price benchmarks, and analyst advisory than ever before, supporting competitive analysis, price-to-win, and portfolio analysis.
