Philanthropist Ray Dalio and TisBest Philanthropy Partner to #RedefineGifting this Holiday Season Offering Free Charity Gift Cards

SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, Philanthropist Ray Dalio and TisBest Philanthropy, a charity gift card organization, are partnering to give away 20,000 $50 TisBest Charity Gift Cards ($1 million dollars’ worth) to the public. The #RedefineGifting campaign is a way for people to experience first-hand the power and joy of charitable giving.

TisBest Charity Gift Cards work like any other gift card, except they allow recipients to experience the power of giving by donating 100% of the card’s value to charities of their choice. Through #RedefineGifting, anyone can claim one of the 20,000 free $50 charity gift cards and immediately donate to a charity they want to support.

“The amount of money given towards just candy gifting over the holidays is greater than the annual budgets of The American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and Habitat for Humanity combined. Imagine what a huge positive impact it would have if even a small amount of that went to charities instead,” said Ray Dalio, investor and philanthropist who has been giving charity gifts to friends, family, and colleagues for years. “My aim in partnering with TisBest is to make that happen by giving people a chance to experience first-hand the joy of giving and receiving a uniquely meaningful kind of gift.”

Last year, Dalio and a group of well-known figures from the world of entertainment and business—Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Arianna Huffington, Kevin Systrom, Reed Hastings, Dr. Oz, Gayle King, and others—teamed up to give away $2 million dollars’ worth of TisBest Charity Gift Cards to more than 30,000 people to help them donate to their favorite charities. This year’s #RedefineGifting aims to build on 2020’s impact.

“In the United States, people spend $15.2 billion on unwanted Christmas gifts each year,” said Simeon Cathy, managing director and co-founder of TisBest Philanthropy. “With GivingTuesday and the holiday season just around the corner, Ray Dalio and TisBest are helping people experience non-material gifts and connecting people to important causes—with more than 1.5 million U.S.-registered charities to choose from, there’s something for everyone who receives a TisBest Charity Gift Card.”

TisBest and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” also recently launched a partnership and premiered an original digital series on Ellen Digital’s superbrand hub, “smile,” dedicated to uplifting and heartwarming stories celebrating everyday heroes doing good for others. Additionally, this holiday season, “smile” will also feature weekly themed gift guides as a resource to inform and encourage ELLEN fans to give back through charitable organizations.

About TisBest Philanthropy

TisBest Philanthropy is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging others to give gifts of good, rather than gifts of stuff. TisBest created charity gift cards to do just that. TisBest Charity Gift Cards work like conventional gift cards, with one meaningful exception: the recipient “spends” the card by choosing which charity to support with the funds. Since its founding in 2007, TisBest has helped hundreds of thousands of individuals make the world a better place through gifting, resulting in over $42 million in donations to charity. The charity gift cards are customizable and come in any amount between $10-$5,000. Purchasers can choose to send a biodegradable plastic card by mail, print a card at home, or send an e-card directly to their gift recipients. For more information, visit www.tisbest.org.
