SLP Campaign Slogan: Putting You First

Dear Sir

For almost five years, this United Workers Party (UWP) government has disrespected you, victimized you, marginalized you and belittled you.

You, the NICE worker: Terminated;

The Fisherfolk: Your Marketing Corporation gave away;

The Banana farmer: Now unable to sell your bananas;

Secondary school students: Your laptop snatched away;

National Trust members: Denigrated.

Public servants: Turned into political tools.

The UWP has not worked for you.

They worked for Friends, who needed a fresh start; family who needed to own a school;

Speculators who craved to profit from operating government payments;

They worked for foreign hoteliers;

For millionaire golf course owners from Cabot;

And for the horses of Desert Star Holdings (DSH);

It is always about them.

And at this time of our acutest economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and a spendthrift and inept prime minister, at this time of massive unemployment, pennilessness and hunger, the government spends millions on road construction and fritters away XCD $78 million International Monetary Fund (IMF) income support funds on a garbage dump, among other irrelevant projects.

It is time to bring a halt to this. It is time to return the people to the centre of governance – the people’s needs, the people’s lands, their patrimony, their heritage, their culture, and their history.#Putting You First.

A Saint Labour Party government will put you first- you the student, you the youth, you the elderly, you the farmer, you the health care worker, you the public servant, you the police officer, you the minibus driver, you the vendor, you the fisherfolk, you the creative, you the entrepreneur, you the community, you the people. #Putting You First.

Philip J Pierre

Political Leader,  Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP)
